Next on the list is a platoon of Highlanders, but I'll be pushed to get them finished in time. They'll bring my battalion up to about 650pts. After that I'll finish the platoons for the second company and add a Mk IV and perhaps a few of the more characterful BEF from Great War Miniatures, e.g. the chap releasing a pigeon or the soldier with the semaphore flags, basically the signallers pack.

Vickers HMG

I've been continuing with my efforts to get as much of my WW1 British painted as I can ahead of the Gaming Day in early March, but I'll still have to borrow quite a few figures from Rob Broom - mainly more infantry ... and a Mark IV tank.

Here's the first of my HMG's. Great War Miniatures from Scarab.

Again, the flash has slightly overwhelmed the painting. I really must get a 'photo booth' sorted out.

I'll probably add some barbed wire to the posts. The sand is painted GW Bestial Brown, then drybrushed with GW Vomit Brown and GW Bleached Bone. Some patches of Scorched Grass and Field Grass, along with some clumps of Woodland Scenics foliage complete the effect.

Next up will be some Lewis Gun teams and the Battalion Command.

Incoming! ... More Painting

Here's my latest effort for the BEF. A 3" Stokes' Mortar team by Great War Miniatures.

Base is from Warbases, picked up at Crusade last month. Very good.

And another shot. Added two types of static grass, for variety, plus a few bits of foliage.

I've also painted another group of BEF infantry but they're being varnished (GW gloss then Testors matt) so are a bit too shiny at the moment.

More soon!

More Painted Late War BEF

I've been fairly busy with the brushes recently and here are the latest figures.

They appeared last year but have now been completed and based. I'll add some static grass and woodland scenics foliage after they're varnished.

All figures are Great War Miniatures sourced from Scarab Miniatures.

They took approx 1.5 hours per figure which is why there's a few untidy bits but I'm pleased the with the result.

Quite a few more on the painting table so keep an eye out for more soon! Next up will be a light mortar team and possibly a Vickers HMG.
